Tracy Cowart is thrilled to bring extensive administrative and performing experience to the S’Cool Sounds team. Tracy’s creative and detail-oriented approach is grounded in a B.S. in Business Administration (American University), as well as work in international business development in Washington DC, where she helped plan trade missions to Mexico, China, South Korea, and Japan. While in DC, she also worked as a Production Manager for multiple productions, including the “Asian Song Festival” and “Asian Chamber Music Festival” at the Kennedy Center. Tracy began working in grant development while pursuing her DMA in Historical Performance Practice at Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, OH). She has served as the Grants Manager for Apollo’s Fire, the Cleveland Baroque Orchestra and provided strategic consulting for a number of music ensembles.
An active performer, Tracy has been praised by the New York Times as “the real attraction” with a voice that is “light and lithe.” She has performed with the American Classical Orchestra, Apollo’s Fire, Great Noise Ensemble, Musica Pacifica, Opera Lafayette, the Newberry Consort, Tenet, Three Notch’d Road, and the Washington Bach Consort. Tracy is also a co-founder of Alkemie, an ensemble that specializes in music from the Middle Ages and with whom she performs throughout the northeast. Additionally, she teaches and practices baroque dance, and has performed with Chatham Baroque, Pegasus Early Music, and El Fuego.
