S'Cool Sounds Receives $50,000 Challenge Grant
With the new school year underway, S’Cool Sounds (SCS) is reaching more students through music than ever before. This impact reflects what’s possible when schools in NYC and Kenya, SCS Teaching Artists, and our supporters come together. We are thrilled to announce that we have received a $50,000 challenge grant toward our annual giving campaign!
2026-27 School Year at a Glance
32 NYC Public Schools have already contracted with us for fall residencies and assemblies, and we expect to be even busier in the spring.
SCS programs are delivering music education to over 8,000 NYC Public Schools students this fall, with the expectation that spring residencies will bring our impact numbers to their highest level yet.
SCS Teaching Artist bands will be bringing 12 Hispanic Heritage Month celebratory assemblies to schools across the five boroughs.
Six NYC Public Schools received Arts Partnership Grants from the DOE to partner with SCS on carefully designed, culturally responsive programs bringing music education to their multilingual learners and students with disabilities. These programs range from violin and music literacy for students in Queens who are receiving speech-related services and focusing on enhancing auditory processing, to an Arabic music-focused percussion and guitar ensemble at a high school in Brooklyn that offers instruction in Arabic and English and was founded to foster cultural understanding.
Donate today to help us claim this generous gift!
Longtime friends of S’Cool Sounds Lois and Alexis Pace continue to generously provide these matching funds to honor the legacy of SCS Board President Emeritus Richard Pace.
