NICK PENNINGTON

Nick Pennington is a guitarist, composer, and educator based in New York City. Originally from Adelaide, Australia, Nick’s passion for Jazz and improvised music compelled him to move his life to the United States.

Always maintaining a connection with music pedagogy, Nick’s experience and upbringing instilled in him the belief that an education that involves the arts and particularly music provides valuable tools to understand the world and fosters strong values of community that are universally applicable. Taking this belief into his teaching practices, Nick aims to educate by connecting students to their most fundamental association with music, and expanding from there. Nick is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music and the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music.

As a performer, Nick’s career has seen him on the national and international stage - both as a sideman and bandleader. Nick has also been the recipient of several grants - most notably The Helpmann Academy Fellowship in 2018, which funded the development and recording of his second album release, Woman In The Stars, a collaboration with drummer Angus Mason.
