Teaching Artist Mir Naqibul Islam’s upcoming SCS project is a new unit that will focus on teaching South Asian rhythms with infectious grooves. Mir is producing instructional videos that students can watch and learn by playing along with his demonstrations. Mir shares our excitement to offer this new SCS unit and contribute towards our growing collection of free musical resources.

Says Mir, “S’Cool Sounds reaches school-going children—the future musicians and music lovers of our community—and I am excited to give back what I received from my elders by sharing music with the next generation.”

Please consider donating today to help us continue creating new multicultural content for our residencies and our Learning Resources site!

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

Watch Mir Naqibul Islam perform a traditional tabla repertoire, “Rau,” with Tomal Hossain on harmonium and Rohan Misra on sarengi.
