A MESSAGE FROM ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, NINA STERN

Dear Friends,

As I sit down to write this annual message, I can’t help but observe the constancy of our goals. Our mission originates with the ideal of providing access to music instruction for all our children and is rooted in the celebration of diverse cultural traditions. We pursue community-building through the joy of making music together. Through music we tell our stories and listen closely to others, communicating and connecting in a way that is more important than ever.

S’Cool Sounds is reaching more children, hiring more talented and committed teaching artists, establishing a growing number of new partnerships, and creating new curricula which we have tested and piloted in the field. Our online resources are accessed by teachers and students around the country and internationally. We are stronger than ever.

In 2025, we created new residency and assembly programs such as TereKete: A South Asian Music Journey, helping school communities to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This has added to our already rich portfolio of culturally resonant programs: Alegría Musical: Latin American Stories; Jazz and the World of Black American Music; Ya Habibi: A Musical Journey through the Arab World; and Call and Response: The Music of Ayiti (Haiti).
