Kenya Students Advance in Festival

From June 9-11, hundreds of students from our four partner Crossing Thresholds schools in Nairobi participated in the first level of the Kenya National Music Festival. All four schools performed exceptionally well, qualifying for the next level: the Nairobi County Regional Music Festival!

With grade levels ranging from pre-school to junior high, students presented entries in several categories, including instrumental music, vocal music, African cultural music/dance, and more. 46 teachers accompanied the students, helping to coordinate meals and transportation on each of the three days of the festival.

Advancing to the next level of the competition carries additional expenses, including transportation across greater distances, meals, instruments, uniforms, and teaching artist compensation.

To help fund this year's festival season in Kenya, one of our generous supporters has offered a $3,000 challenge grant. Because of this, we're now raising our goal to $8,000. You can help us claim this money with a contribution today!

The smiles and camaraderie in these pictures from last week's festival say it all. This is what community through music looks like!
