Kenyan Students Shine in Boston Early Music Festival

On June 15th, the prestigious Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF) presented an inspiring student performance at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall, which included a videotaped performance by S’Cool Sounds/Crossing Thresholds (SCS/CT) students in Kenya, produced especially for BEMF Beyond Borders

Now in its fourth year, BEMF Beyond Borders continues its tradition of reaching out to and collaborating with international partners who celebrate the creative voices of our youngest community members. This year, over 100 young musicians took the stage at the live performance in Boston, representing the BEMF Youth Ensemble, A String Fort Smith from Arkansas, and recorder ensembles from Brazil and Taiwan.

$1900 out of $8000 raised; milestone at $3000

In addition, three student ensembles contributed pre-recorded performances, including the PI Program (The Netherlands), the Khalil Gibran School of Music (Lebanon), and the SCS/CT Program (Kenya)! The live audience at Jordan Hall was visibly moved by these inspirational performances from across the globe.

Opportunities like BEMF Beyond Borders depend on support from our community. Our fundraiser for our programs in Kenya is nearly 25% of the way toward our $8,000 goal. Now, your contribution can go even further because of an exciting matching offer: once we reach $3,000, a generous supporter will donate an additional $3,000, instantly bringing us to 75% of our goal. Help us unlock this challenge grant with a contribution today!
